The Great Dimming

The Great Dimming marks the third day of the Duskwane cycle, when both moons of Aeonyra fade into near-darkness and the continent is cast beneath an unnatural twilight. For several hours, shadows lengthen, colors dull, and even sound seems softened—as though the world itself pauses to reflect on all that has passed and all yet to come.

Across Aeonyra, the event is observed through quiet celebration and lantern-lit gatherings. Fires are dimmed rather than brightened, voices are kept low, and communities gather beneath muted skies to share stories, memories, and moments of stillness. Though the Great Dimming carries an air of unease, it is not feared; it is seen as a reminder that even in darkness, the cycle of time continues forward.
