Stillwake
Stillwake is observed during the Shrivs cycle, a quiet and thinning season when the world seems to draw inward before the coming cold. Leaves darken and fall, daylight shortens, and a persistent hush settles across much of Aeonyra. The air carries a sense of conclusion—not death, but release—as fields are cleared, roads empty earlier, and the land prepares itself for stillness once more.
The festival itself is subdued and deeply reflective. Candles and pale lanterns are placed in windows, along pathways, and beside bodies of water to honor memories, endings, and those who have passed from one chapter of life into another. In Morrowtick and Yesteryn especially, long silences are shared in communal gatherings, with stories spoken softly only after extended moments of quiet. Stillwake is not mournful, but reverent—a reminder that not all endings should be resisted.
